My name is Sheila Cole and I created For Jake's Sake with only the love in my heart and the compassion that I have for all animals, especially pets. My late beloved Jake was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, the most painful type of bone cancer, in March, 2011. In May 2011, we made the very difficult decision to amputate the leg that was most affected with the pain. The pathologists gave her 12-25 weeks to live and I knew I needed to be with her as much as possible for the duration of her life. So, I started welcoming pets to come to my home and play, board, or go to them for walks and exercise. This allowed me the opportunity to be home much more and gone only a few hours out of the day to visit client's pets. Sadly, Jake lost her battle with her cruel disease on August 28, 2011, and I lost my best friend and soulmate. She has just welcomed her litter mate of 13+ years, Elwood, our chocolate Lab, to join her in youth and health for eternity. She is survived by her adopted sister Franny Mae, our 4 year old Beagle/Husky mix. Since then, I have become involved with Lab Rescue, where I have fostered and have the great fortune to have added JD, our precious 3 year old black lab rescue puppy to our pack. I know Jake would approve!
